DIY: Aztec t-shirt

I love Aztec print and thought I would try and design my own aztec print t-shirt byt using fabric paints. This design was really easy to do you don't have to be an artist to design a top like this. It's just basic colouring in.

All you need to make this top
-1 White plain baggy top
-4 different colours of fabric paint
-2 paint brushes 1 thin and 1 thick brush
-cardboard
-a soft pencil
-ruler

I place the t-shirt over the cardboard, this is so the fabric paint doesn't print on the otherwise. And to have a flat base so it is easier to draw and paint onto the t-shirt.
At first I tried loads of different designs on a piece of paper and when I was happy with my final design. I drew the design onto the t-shirt with a soft pencil as it's easier to draw on the fabric. And a ruler to get perfect lines.

When painting the dots on the t-shirt I didn't draw dots with a pencil I just drew a line and free drew the dots. If you have a really steady hand it's so easy to do. I used a black colour for the dots.

I started to paint the triangle shapes. I found it easier to draw the outline of the triangle with a paint and then colour the middle in. I used a red on the first triangle but you can use any colour you want.

I then used a navy blue to colour in the line of triangles.and I used a silver paint to colour in the other triangle. I wasn't to sure about the metallic paint but it works really well with the navy. But shin it's up to you which colours you want to use.

To finish off the t-shirt I free hand drew mini lines in a row. The lines do nit have to be perfect. This makes the t-shirt a little better. I used a red paint to finish it off but it's up to you which colour you want to use. I then added more dots the t-shirt.

voila at the t-shirt is done
Leave it to dry for about an hour or so and your ready to go.

Wonderland

This is a Alice in wonderland inspired photoshoot. Iv always loved Alice in wonderland. Setting up the scene was so much fun. I was lucky that I had most of the props for the photoshoot. Here are the final edited images from the photoshoot. It's Alice in wonderland with a slight modern twist.

DIY: Galaxy t-shirt

I'm loving the new galaxy print trend, and I can't find this print in any high street store. So I thought I would attempt to DIY. It was so easy to make and very cheap. You don't need to be an artist to make a t-shirt like this.

Here is my attempt at the DIY print trend on a t-shirt

I put the t-shirt on a piece of card board so it's easier to paint on.

I added a little bit of paint of each colour to a sponge and pressed it all over the t-shirt to add a galaxy effect. This is so simple and easy to do.

I added blue fabric paint to the t-shirt, to add a better effect. Next step I used bleach, wear gloves when handling the bleach as it will burn the skin. Carefully add bleach to the sponge and dabb it generously over the t-shirt and you quickly see the effect of the bleach as it lightens the t-shirt to a orangey colour. Now use your paintbrush to splatter the white fabric paint over the t-shirt to add the finishing touches to your t-shirt.

Voila and the t-shirt is done :)

Aztec nails

Scouted at lollapalooza festival by vogue, I love this aztec look.the colours are amazing together. Very festival inspired.

I loved the tribal inspired nail art so much I thought I would try the design myself. This design was so cheap to do.

How to get the Aztec look

I used a base coat on the nail first, so the bright colours doesn't stain the nail. I'm using "the edge base coat" which I bought at a beauty wholesale but any base coat will do.

I chose these three colours, all available to purchase from boots at around £2.00 each. This pale colours work really well together. Apply the different colours to your nails.

Apply the colour to the nail use two or three coats to get a matte look.

When the nail polish is dry, now it's time to add the tribal lines. I used these nail art pens which are available from "body care" which cost £1.99 for a pack of three and are available in lots od different colours. For my nails I'm going to use the purple and White nail art pen.

If you have a steady hand drawing the tribal lines onto the nail is pretty easy, but if you take your time. You can get the look. I drew three diagonal lines from the corner of the nail.

Then add three horizontal lines in the middle of the line connecting them to the other lines.
You can try your own designs. I fouund it easier to draw different designs on paper to practice.

If you want your aztec nails to last longer why not try "Sally Hensons diamond finish" it costs around £6.00 but it's a great way to finsh off your nails. It has a lovely gloss finish and it's a tough top coat so your nail colour will last longer.
